Tourism Jasper Brings a Cozy Mountain Cabin Experience to Edmonton International Airport

A Taste of the Rockies at YEG

Travellers moving through Edmonton International Airport (YEG) can now experience a touch of the Canadian Rockies without leaving the terminal. Tourism Jasper has launched an immersive, full-scale Jasper-inspired cabin installation in partnership with Edmonton International Airport and Knotty Pine Cabins, designed to transport passengers straight into the heart of mountain living.

Located at Gate 16, the experiential activation introduces visitors to Jasper’s rugged landscapes, rich heritage, and welcoming small-town hospitality. The installation aims to spark curiosity and inspire future travel, offering a moment of calm and comfort amid the bustle of airport life.

Inside the Jasper Cabin Experience

At the centre of the activation is a scaled replica of a traditional Jasper cabin, carefully crafted to reflect the warmth and character the destination is known for. Visitors are invited to step inside and soak in the cosy, rustic atmosphere synonymous with mountain retreats.

Interior details include a glowing fireplace, wood and leather furnishings, soft ambient lighting, and iconic Hudson’s Bay blankets. Historic photographs line the walls, highlighting Jasper’s storied past, from royal visits to legendary celebrity guests, and offering a glimpse into the community’s enduring legacy.

“We are honoured to have built the cabin for this installation with the quality and craftsmanship that Knotty Pine Cabins is known for,” said Alana Comartin, co-owner of Knotty Pine Cabins. “The cabin reflects Jasper’s warmth and character within the airport experience.”

Relax, Share, and Be Inspired

Outside the cabin, travellers can unwind in a classic red Adirondack chair while waiting for their flight. Guests are encouraged to take photos, relax, and share their experience on social media using the hashtag #MyJasper, helping extend the activation’s reach beyond the terminal.

“The cabin experience is about offering passengers a place to relax and unwind before they board their plane,” said Tyler Riopel, CEO of Tourism Jasper. “We want people to feel the warmth, hospitality, and sense of adventure that define Jasper, even if they’re just passing through.”

A Long-Term Gateway to Adventure

Planned as a 3–5 year activation, the Jasper Cabin Experience will evolve with seasonal refreshes. Future enhancements will include interactive elements such as QR codes linking to travel inspiration, cabin accommodation options, and trip-planning tools. A contest is also planned, offering travellers a chance to win a Jasper getaway complete with cabin accommodation, activities, and flights for two.

For Edmonton International Airport, the installation enhances the passenger journey while supporting regional tourism. “Partnerships like this bring destinations to life in our terminal and reinforce YEG’s role as a gateway to extraordinary experiences across Alberta and the Canadian Rockies,” said Myron Keehn, President & CEO of Edmonton International Airport.

The Jasper Cabin Experience serves as a welcoming invitation to venture beyond the terminal and into the breathtaking landscapes of Jasper National Park.
